As far as I’m concerned there’s no such thing as being too cautious when you’re spending hours exposed to the sun. I only wish we’d had the knowledge and the products that are now available during the first 20 years of my life.
Between spray on sunscreens that you never have to touch (eliminating odors on your flies and lures that may turn fish off), and clothing that offers SPF 50 there’s no excuse for subjecting your skin to the damaging rays that cause premature aging and various skin cancers.
I recently had the opportunity to demo the Freezer Neck Wrap from Columbia Sportswear. I have to admit I was more than a little skeptical of the idea that you could have any kind of fabric completely over your face and not feel hotter than you would without it.
I was pleasantly surprised at the cooling property of the Omni-Freeze® technology that makes this wrap work. Wearing it kept me shaded from having the sun beat directly on my face and the moisture wicking properties of the fabric actually did feel like it kept me cooler. It is also very comfortable to wear.
I would recommend this wrap to anyone that spends time outdoors. If you protect yourself now, you’ll thank yourself (and Columbia) later.

Disclosure: The Men’s Freezer Neck Wrap was sent to me to demo and review by YakAngler.com. This is my honest, unbiased opinion of how I thought it performed. (As stated, I wasn’t too sure it would work). I am also a member of Columbia’s Pro Purchase team. They did not compensate me for this review nor did this have any bearing on my findings.
I am thinking my son and I need to grab two of these on our way down to the Tourney next week in Empire. Also good for keeping the gnats away from your mouth and nose.
They would definitely do the job! Wish I was coming to that tourney next week. Maybe next year. Good luck!
That is an awesome piece of gear! I have burnt my cheeks to a crisp in my last two outings.
